Naturalis Biodiversity Center is ontstaan uit een intensieve samenwerking tussen het Nationaal Herbarium Nederland (Universiteit Leiden, Wageningen Universiteit), het Zoölogisch Museum Amsterdam (Universiteit van Amsterdam) en het Nationaal Natuurhistorisch Museum Naturalis.
Koninklijke Belgische Botanische Vereniging
De Koninklijke Belgische Botanische Vereniging werd gesticht in 1862. De belangrijkste doelstelling van deze tweetalige vereniging is het promoten van de plantenbiologie en ecologie. Dat gebeurt zowel door het organiseren van excursies en symposia als door het promoten van onderzoek en via de uitgave van een reeks publicaties. Zo publiceert de Belgische Botanische Vereniging Plant Ecology and Evolution, een internationaal gewaardeerd wetenschappelijk tijdschrift. Tenslotte reikt de vereniging een reeks driejaarlijkse prijzen uit aan verdienstelijke botanische onderzoekers.

Nederlandse Vereniging voor Fytotherapie
wordt door de NVF gedefinieerd als:
de professionele toepassing van plantaardige geneesmiddelen (fytotherapeutica volgens de definitie van ESCOP met als doel de gezondheid te behouden of te bevorderen.
Het gebruik van fytotherapeutica buiten de professionele hulpverlening om (zelfzorg, mantelzorg) valt niet onder deze definitie van 'fytotherapie'. Voor de professionele toepassing van fytotherapeutica bestaan zowel regulier medische als andere (westers en oosters traditionele) benaderingen. 'Fytotherapie' kan dus verwijzen naar heel verschillende behandelwijzen, zowel regulier als 'alternatief'. Globaal kunnen vijf belangrijke contexten voor het gebruik van fytotherapeutica worden onderscheiden: de reguliere (moderne westerse) geneeskunde, de westers traditionele (natuur-)geneeskunde, de antroposofische geneeskunde, de traditionele Chinese geneeskunde en de Ayurvedische (Aziatische) geneeskunde.

De hedendaagse herborist is een kruidendeskundige met een veelzijdige kennis over gezondheidsbevorderende planten, kennis die zowel botanisch, teelttechnisch, farmacologisch als medisch moet zijn.
De herborist gebruikt deze kennis voor het verstrekken van informatie, het verzorgen van educatie, het geven van gezondheidsadviezen, het verkopen van kruiden of het telen, oogsten en verwerken van gebruiksplanten.

De Keuringsraad KOAG/KAG toetst publieksreclame voor geneesmiddelen, medische hulpmiddelen en gezondheidsproducten aan de door de branche opgestelde codes: de Code voor de Publieksreclame voor Geneesmiddelen (CPG), de Code voor de Publieksreclame Medische Hulpmiddelen (CPMH) en de Code voor de Aanprijzing van Gezondheidsproducten (CAG).

The National Institute of Medical Herbalists (NIMH) is the UK’s leading professional body representing herbal practitioners. The Institute is self-regulating and is run on a voluntary basis. The Institute maintains a register of individual members, sets the profession’s educational standards and runs an accreditation system for training establishments, maintains mandatory programmes of professional development, provides codes of conduct, ethics and practise, has a complaints mechanism and disciplinary procedures, represents the profession, patients and the public through participation in external processes such as regulation of the profession and herbal medicine. Members are required to have professional indemnity, public liability and medical malpractice insurance. The NIMH operates a mandatory comprehensive block insurance scheme.

The Biodiversity Research Centre regroups scientists from UCL involved in the study of biodiversity, sensu lato (i.e. in the fields of biodiversity, ecology and evolution).
